Community Development

Build Up Long-Term Resilience in Communities

The past several years have left many constituents in District 54 displaced and unable to afford decent housing for long-term living. In addition, independent landlords have also struggled to pay mortgages, mainly due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Elaine will help build up D54 by:

  • Assuring that District 54 continues to appropriately fund and develop our vital infrastructure systems that will increase the value in our district
  • Allocate funds to build up local businesses and provide support with permits and permanent remodeling for outdoor dining and digital training so that small business owners can compete with the growing market and bring in more tourism into the community
  • Invest in building and utilizing vacant facilities for youth recreation centers throughout District 54, with programs implemented through local partnerships geared towards empowering and equipping the youth and young adults with educational goals, family building, and career success
  • Actively work with community partners in gang reduction, intervention and youth development, and supportive services.
  • Commission more spaces to develop parks and dog parks to promote within sections of the community that lack green space
